| It has been a tremendous honour and an emotional undertaking to create the Hickstead Trophy to commemorate Hickstead as Equine Canada's Horse of the Year for 2011. The partnership between Eric Lamaze and Hickstead was exceptional and inspiring to me as an artist and one who loves horses. The extraordinary achievements of Hickstead and Eric are unparalleled and include the 2008 Olympics when they won the Individual Gold Medal and helped Canada to capture the Team Silver. In 2007 and 2011 they won Spruce Meadows Masters Tournament, the $1 million CN International, which brought them the richest grand prix event in the world. - With heartfelt gratitude - Mary |
